Phantom Progression

How Phantoms grow in Girls Echo: stars and Awakening, level caps, breakthroughs, skill levels, star-up costs and how Power is worked out.

Stars and Awakening

Every star has 6 ranks, and each star-up moves one rank. The one-tap button stops at rank 6 of the current star; the step to the next star (Star Advancement, or Awakening Advancement above 5★) has to be tapped by hand, and only that step also takes Phantom Dust and Heartsea items.

Max stars: R 1★, SR 3★, SSR 8★, SSR+ 12★. Stars above 5★ come from Awakening. The star bar has five icons: 6★–10★ and 11★–12★ light it up again in a new colour, so an 8★ Phantom shows three new-colour stars and two old ones.

Levels and breakthroughs

The level cap is 100 up to 1★, then +40 per star, up to 420: a maxed R is Lv. 100, SR 180, SSR 380 and SSR+ 420. Breakthroughs at Lv. 10, Lv. 20, Lv. 40, Lv. 60, Lv. 80, Lv. 100 cost 10, 50, 100, 400, 1,000, 1,500 Phantom Dust (3,060 in total). Skills 2, 3 and 4 unlock at the Lv. 40, 60 and 80 breakthroughs.

Phantom EXP is one pool shared by the whole account, and idle rewards go straight into it. Lv. 1 to 420 takes 210,664,940 EXP. The level-up screen offers +1 level and level up to max.

Skill levels

Skill levels follow stars: all four skills reach Lv. 2 at 2★; skill 1 reaches Lv. 3 at 3★, skill 2 at 4★, skills 3 and 4 at 5★. From 6★, each Awakening star raises one skill to Lv. 4 in an order that differs per Phantom (see Progression on each page). The in-game skill hint stops at Lv. 3.

Power and SPD

Power is worked out from ATK, HP, DEF, hit, crit and damage stats plus skills. SPD isn't part of it, and nothing raises SPD: levels, breakthroughs and stars leave it where it starts. Picking a team by Power alone undervalues fast Phantoms. The level-up screen's stat preview leaves out the flat star bonus and gear, so it reads lower than the real stats.

UR Phantoms

A UR can't level up, break through or star up on her own. Link an SSR+ Phantom and the UR uses its level, stars, Spirit Gear, Spirit Rank and Divine Gear; unlinking resets her. A linked UR and SSR+ can't be in the same mode's lineup, and accepting the in-game prompt removes the SSR+ from every lineup in every mode, not just the one in conflict. A UR's own upgrades are Star Soul (Rank 0 to 10, 1,140 of her shards) and Spirit Infusion. Before Server Day 31 a UR only shows in the Phantom list once you have 60 of her shards.

Shards

Recruiting any Phantom takes 60 shards. Once an R, SR or SSR Phantom is at max stars, spare shards can be exchanged in the shop (not Lilith's); SSR+ and UR shards can't.

Tabs

A Phantom's Spirit Gear tab opens at Player Lv. 14; Spirit Rank at Server Day 2, Player Lv. 24; Charmon at Server Day 6, Player Lv. 50; Divine Gear at Server Day 9, Player Lv. 70. The Sigil tab is closed in this version.

Star-up costs

Each row is the star-up into that star plus the five rank-ups inside it. 1★ has only the rank-ups (recruiting gives 1★), and the top star only the step into it. Every Phantom of a rarity pays the same, except Lilith, who has her own higher costs (see her page).

How Power is worked out

The game works Power out on your device (HeroPanelCalculator), so it can be written down:

Power = (√(ATK × HP ÷ (1 − DEF ÷ (DEF + 3000 + 6 × level)) × (hit + dodge) × (1 − crit + crit × crit damage + 0.5 × crit resistance + 0.05 × crit damage reduction) × (1 + damage boost + damage mitigation + weighted extras) × (1 + skill Power)) + star Power) ÷ 0.6, rounded up.

The weighted extras are armour piercing, lifesteal, faction damage, healing and shield stats, damage over time and physical / magic damage, each with a weight set per Phantom. SPD's weight is 0, so SPD adds nothing. DEF counts for less as the Phantom's level rises, because the level is part of the DEF term.
